Ban on entry of footwear inside Mosques/Shrines in J&K Srinagar, Jun 10 The Hon’ble Chairperson J&K Waqf Board has been apprised about the undesirable practice of devotees/worshipers carrying along their footwear inside the Waqf notified Mosques & Shrines.
An order copy which lies with News Agency reads that the Chairperson J&K Waqf board has apprised about the undesirable practice of devotees/worshipers carrying along their footwear inside the Waqf notified Mosques & Shrines. Some of them are often seen offering prayers in the vicinity of the footwear.
Ban on entry of footwear inside Mosques/Shrines in J&K
The practice not only creates unhygienic conditions but also breaches the sacrosanctity of these sacred places. The Hon’ble Chairperson has accordingly issued the following instructions in this regard that the Executive Engineer J&K Waqf Board shall find suitable spots outside the praying areas for the installation of an adequate number of Shoe racks in consultation with the concerned Administrator. Immediately a proposal for the installation of Shoe racks is submitted to this office.
Executive Engineer to take immediate necessary steps to ensure the entire Shoe rack area remains under CCTV Surveillance Once these measures are put in place, all Administrators of Shrines & associated Mosques shall ensure no one is allowed to carry footwear inside the Mosque/Shrine. Adequate staff is assigned duties for the purpose as well. Further, wherever Shoe-racks in adequate numbers are already available & are under CCTV Surveillance, the ban on entry of footwear be immediately imposed. Any dereliction shown by the staff shall invite disciplinary action.
